Managing chronic back pain with integrative medicine

Next week, Ruthann Russo will be presenting research on chronic back pain at the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine’s annual meeting in San Diego, CA. The research shows that when a healthcare provider is treating a patient with chronic back pain, he or she must inform the patient that, in addition to conventional treatment (i.e. pain medications and/or surgery) acupuncture, massage, yoga, spinal manipulative therapy, and cognitive-based therapy (such as biofeedback and progressive relaxation) have all been shown to help manage chronic back pain. I will report back on more helpful findings for managing your health and wellness from the conference ☺
